(More customer reviews)I'll admit it: I bought it for the cute light pink color. It's a bit smaller than the kettles I've used previously, but I'm just making tea for myself so it's perfect. The black handle NEVER gets hot which is a marked improvement from previous kettles I've owned.
However, the whistle doesn't get very loud. I could hear my previous kettles when I was in my bedroom. The whistle on this one barely carries to the living room, which is right next to the kitchen. The whistle was the whole reason I bought a kettle - I'm forgetful and have been known to allow pots of water to boil dry on the stove. I try to pay attention, but I've forgotten it once already when I got distracted in my bedroom. Also, the handle doesn't move so that can make it a bit awkward when I pour bottled water into the opening (I use bottled for tea).
If you're looking for a loud whistle, I'd give this one a pass. For $12, it's not a terrible buy and it does the job just fine, but I'll be replacing it when I move again in a few months.
Another thing to keep in mind: it's made in China.
